As specified in the initiation rites document, I am hereby introducing
myself.
My name is Michael Banks. By day, I am an engineer in Hewlett-Packard's
Graphics Software Lab. By night, I am the proprietor of The Internet
Catalog Company. The main feature of interest on the Internet Catalog
Company pages is the 3300+ item woodworking tools and supplies catalog
where I hock mainly new oldtools (read not too many power tool accessories),
including those of Ron Hock and Tom Lie-Nielson.
I have been a woodworker for quite a few years, although I never seem to
have as much time as I would like to devote to it. I particularly enjoy
hand methods -- my only power tool is a circular saw that I bought to
build a privacy fence. I also try to find excuses to add carved detail
to whatever I build. There is even a photo online at
http://petroglyph.cl.msu.edu/~tigger/WoodWorkPhoto.html
My major interest in old tools is as a user. If purchases from the MofA
qualifies one as a Galoot, I think I may be close. I have pretty much
built up my entire shop with the help of a couple of old tool merchants
that I have met over the last several years via the 'net. In fact, my
pry-it-from-my-cold-dead-fingers favorite tool is a nice little Simmonds
crosscut panel saw that Patrick picked up for me last year. Running a
close second is my "minty" moving fillister.
By the way, I am in Fort Collins, CO.
mike.
