40113 Larry Poffenberger <lkp@r...> 1998‑03‑26 BIO (again)
Hi Y'all,

You may be wondering WHY -

I was just browsing through the Bio site and realized
there isn't one there for me. I'm sure I sent one, long
ago. As far as I know, senility doesn't cause you to imagine
things that didn't happen. So the only explanation is that
the d**n computer lost it somewhere along the line. Being
a computer programmer, I can legitimately blame the computer
for most anything that happens.

I'm 56 and a newlywed of 32 years or so. I've been a
programmer for over 25 years. Yeah, I'm one of the guys
that caused this year 2000 mess. However, in our defense,
I'll point out that, had we attempted to get the users to
enter a 4 digit year, they would have called us NUTS. How
many times have you wrote a date as 12/31/19xx?

We have a son and a daughter, both married. Three grand
daughters so far. Going to have to turn one of them into
a tom boy, I guess. I NEED an electric train, plane, etc.
to pla... TEACH them about.

I started out as a woodworker about 15 years ago and I was
debating with myself on buying a dust collector, a thickness
planer or a jointer; only one of which I could afford at that
time. I went to a SWTCA meeting and saw a demo of using hand
planes. The guy said, "I'd rather have that stuff falling on
the floor than flying around in the air, getting in my eyes and
lungs. Not to mention they're MUCH cheaper. Well, they are if
you stay away from the rare collectibles. Also, I get more
satisfaction from using a hand tool than from a noisy machine
AND, I still got all my fingers...

Eventually I began collecting Bed Rock planes and Sweetheart
items and Eagle trademark transitionals and a few other items
that catch my eye. I'm not REALLY a collector as I have less
than 1000 items.

Oh yeah, and in an attempt to support my habi... hobby, I sell
items when the wife starts threatening open an antique store.

Okay, okay, so I've already told you more than you wanted to know.

Regards,
Larry
