Hale to the Porch,

I've very much enjoyed reading the recent bio's from everyone.  
So much so, that I thought I'd go back and re-read mine to see if
it was nearly as entertaining.

Imagine my shock, chagrine, and astonishment at realizing that I
don't think it got posted.  (My mail program, "ZMAIL", 
occasionally allows me to believe I'm executing an action by 
hitting the "Done" button, when in actuality "Done" really means
"Get rid of the thing your're currently doing.")  Maybe I hit the
"Done" button rather than the "Send" button by mistake.

So, anyway, on to me ... again:

I'm in Fort Collins, CO. -  not much of a tool haven, but I 
love the outdoors too, and I find the occasional clump of rust
out here even so.  I've been blabbing and listening on the list
since June 21, this year, according to the listserve reply 
that I saved (small miracle).

Like some on the list, I'm sort of a techno-geek kind of guy, 
working on graphics accelerator hardware design for Hewlett 
Packard.  For fun, though, I've enjoyed building/repairing/
screwing-up wooden things for some time, but only recently 
acquired a house with basement to really make some messes in.  
Initially, I went out to find all the appropriate p*r tools (I 
still kind of like my really old, really heavy Boice Crane table 
saw.  Boy was that hard to get down the basement stairs.  Sorry, 
I'll shine the spitoon now.)  But in the process, I realized I'm 
fascinated with the old hand tools so well known to this group, 
and my focus is much more towards them now.  I get all excited 
pawing through the flea markets for them, and I've got all kinds 
of gaps in my colle...., er, set of hand tools which need to be 
filled.  My bible has become M. Dunbar's book, 'cause I love 
tuning and repairing these things.

I've already received lots of great advice from this esteemed 
Galoot group and even a free part from MofA.  Right now, my hat's 
on order, and I've got some !Blue scrapers on the way from the
IT guys.   Unfortunately, I can't afford THE SAW yet.  My only 
gloat of worth was a pretty crispy type 9 8C for under $30.

Current projects include:  Tuning old tools
                           Bench  ( need vices or bench screws :)
                           Walnut Pie Crust Table
			   Scraper holders

Um, so I'm listening lots, asking some, and saying some - prob'ly
too much.  Can I hang a hammock, or is it getting too crowded?
