Yes, methylene chloride can be dangerous if used improperly, but banning 
it is an over-reaction. I don't do a lot of paint stripping but I have 
used it a number of times, always outdoors, with protective clothing and 
glasses, and will say that it works much better then other chemicals. I 
have actually purchased it at estate sales, because it is quite hard to 
find in stores anymore.

Bob Flexner, the well-known author, has been highly critical of the 
banning of methylene chloride.
