Hur, hur hur, I see what you did there.
And good on Ron for being able to retire. Nothing on the Lee Valley website
that I saw, so far. I am wondering how that line of blades will get along
with the A2 and PMV11 blades they already sell. That 'businessy' stuff
always leaves me perplexed.
276912 the_tinker <tinker@z...> 2023‑01‑18 Re: Hock Tools sold to Lee Valley
Must admit I have mixed feelings about this. I highly recommend
retirement to anyone who asks. On the other hand my absolute favorite
go-to plane is a wartime Stanley No. 4-1/2 with an early Ron Hock iron.
Pure joy to use.

Enjoy Mr. Hock, do what ever the hell you want now. You deserve it.

Looks like it's consolidation time. First Beall, then Hock. At least they're
going to good new owners. Unlike in groceries, where the Kroger Borg is buying
out Albertsons/Safeway.
276917 John Moore 2023‑01‑19 Re: Hock Tools sold to Lee Valley
Maybe Lee Valley will add some additional replacement blades what Hock did not
make. I had reached out to Ron a few months ago about a replacement blade for a
Stanley 90/93 and he replied that he did not make them. He sent me to a couple
others, but they were $100 for a one-off.
276918 the_tinker <tinker@z...> 2023‑01‑20 Re: Hock Tools sold to Lee Valley
Speaking of...Does anyone know someone that make replacement iron for a
Stanley 144 3/8 rounding plane?

This place used to and it’s still listed on their website.

Nota bene: communication is not their forte.

Good luck,

I certainly hope they will continue to offer Ron's fine O1 blades. Maybe it's
just me but I've never felt the need to get into them fancy metals.

I am wondering how that line of blades will get along with the A2 and PMV11
blades they already sell. That 'businessy' stuff always leaves me perplexed.

Come on Stephen, don't be so generous with the praise.

Their ebay store is generally a little bit more communication friendly.
I've bought a few things from there lately. But no 144 parts listed

At this point, I can't remember if I had better luck phoning or emailing
him a few years back, but one did work, eventually

I wish he'd bring back a few of the items from the past, but have not
bothered to ask him for them.

Kirk in Half Moon Bay, also drying out, but still dealing with
transportation challenges here by the bay
