Here is an early rasp I acquired. I thoughtbit might be early because of the
angled shoulders above the tang.
It is marked "PARKIN" below a crown. Attached are some pictures are some
pictures.
I was unable to find any file-makers named "Parkin". There were several edge-
tool makers by that name active in the 1830's, but since file-making is a
separate trade, it wasn't one of them.
Does anyone have any information on file-makers? If so,I would appreciate any
information on this guy. Also, when did files develop their current shape with
rounded instead of angled shoulders?
