260848 rock harris <nombre7@g...> 2016‑12‑21 BIO
So I said I'd do it, and so here is my bio.

I am Rock Harris and I live in St Louis. But you can see that below.

What you don't see is that I am one of those guys who's been everywhere.
Military brat, then the military after that (USMC, six years). I've been to
the Near East, the Far East, The Arctic, Europe, and most of the states. I
lived in Japan for almost two years. The second time,1 1/2 years, I lived
on the side of Mt Fuji. THAT was something to wake up to in the morning.
I'm 50 this year.

I've been interested in working with my hands all my adult life. I think
it's a outcome of my professional life, which is computer programming
(cutting edge stuff, really). I love the tangible feel of working with
something. So I work on motorcycles some, take film photography, and
collect, clean, and to some extent, repair typewriters (I have over 100).

So I understand the Collector Mindset.

I started woodworking about a decade ago. And stopped after a year. Two
years ago or so, I started getting the bug, so I went to a Woodcraft class
and got the bug. I now go to a local custom woodworker once a week and make
furniture under his supervision. If it paid as well as the programming, or
if I won the lottery, I'd make it a true apprenticeship. I mostly want to
do hand tools, but I integrate them as much as I can in my work. I'm on my
second major project, a Stickley Morris Chair. I really choose them, man.
My first was a Stickley Magazine Stand. Little did I know that that
simplicity hid a WEALTH of small details that you need to solve/deal with.

I have been into Art & Crafts/Craftsman as long as I can remember, but I
have become a Stickley fanatic in the past few years. I plan to make all
the furniture in my house. I figure it'll ramp up in time as I get better.
I try to make my house look like it's from the early 20th century. Over
time, it'll be a true Craftsman house.

That's about it. Anything else, please hit me up.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
