18619 Leimberger, Jeff <leimb001@o...> 1997‑05‑19 Bio : Jeff Leimberger
Hello galoots,

just last week I decided to endure the potential wrath of my network
head and join the group (in digest mode of course!) - though I have been
lurking for several months. I have enjoyed the discussion and been
inspired to request several packages from the MofA.

By day I work as a mild-mannered statistician at a school known for its
medical center and basketball team in Durham, NC. I have a somewhat
tool tolerant SWMBO and a daughter (7) and son (4). The former has
taken a shaving with my type 16 #4! I am actually trained as an
ecologist, studying amphibians - so while I won't be much of a source on
working wood by hand, I could be extremely valuable to the Porch should
anyone have a question concerning reptiles or amphibians :-).

I am probably an intermediate woodworker with p*&er *ool*, having
completed several projects and started a few more. But lest you think I
sin repeatedly, I have cut dovetails by hand (pins first).Unfortunately,
I am now shopless (collective gasp!), hence the renewed interest in
handtools. I at least have a workbench (OK, it's really a Lowes' bench)
in the carport now and have played with some of my tools for experience.
These tools are basically for use, though I have purchased mainly
better than usually available specimens from Patrick (I even enjoy their
looks!). I could slip into collector mode anytime, with no shop and
little time to actually build something (don't let my wife read this!).

In the future I hope to contribute as much as I have learned from my
eavesdropping on the porch!

Jeff
