141215 "John Pesut" <the_tinker@w...> 2005‑01‑28 Bio
G.G.'s-

I posted my first bio to this list (when it was a newsgroup) using a UNIX
server and pine back when Tim Berners-Lee was still working his way
through the alphabet trying to come up with a name for this little
convince he created. Since that was lost in the "ether" so-to-speak,
here's an update:

I'm John Pesut, I've lived in north east Ohio all my life (except for a
three year stab at post secondary education in Columbus). I have
worked for General Dynamics Corp and currently for Hewlett-Packard
(20+ years). I'm an "Account Support Consultant" for HP which is just
about as fancy a term for Field Engineer as you can come up with.

I married once (and still am), I'm the father of an OSU junior and
consider myself truly blessed.

I got my love of old tools honestly. I inherited it. Although in my case
the gene skipped a generation. My father will stir paint with a hammer
and pound nails with a monkey wrench or anything else handy. It was
my maternal grandfather that was the woodworker. He was a Quaker
and one of the original Ohio Bell lineman. I still have the "Bell System"
tools from his toolbelt although the leather pouch and belt are long gone.

His workshop was my playground and he never tired of humoring me
at whatever "project" I had in mind to build.

I love working with my hands and although my career keeps me in
antiseptic white raised floor computer rooms, I sneak out often to
work with my friends construction crew building houses.

Speaking of computer rooms, I have photo someplace of me and some
of my co-workers assembling the cabinets of a million dollar plus HP
Superdome system with Jorgenson wooden turnscrews to hold the
cabinets in alignment while we bolted them together.

I'm still trying to adapt a Millers Falls spiral ratchet driver to Torx
bits...

Like everyone else on this list I have many, many projects half-done,
waiting for life to slow down a bit so that I can find some more time for
the shop. I have built tables, and cabinets for ourselves and others. I've
restored a few very nice pieces of furniture.

I am addicted to old tools and their care and use.

Later,

John (Boardman, Ohio)
