Hello,

 

My name is Tom Thompson.  I have been lurking and posting a little bit
for about 6 months and realized I hadn't posted a bio.

 

I am a recovering (although maybe never reformed normite also).  I do
woodworking for relaxation.  I work for the Minneapolis Police
Department as a Crime Prevention Specialist.  Just turned 40 and it is
really hurting.

 

I have become enamored with hand tools and have been acquiring many.  I
have a lot of Bailey's, Bedrock's and Lie-Nielsen's and my prize Spiers
Ayr infill panel.  I also have numerous Disston saws.  

 

I am really looking to find a decent pre-war Norris A5,6 etc closed
handle smooth plane with rosewood infill.

 

I am looking for information on the preservation and restoration of
antique tools, especially hand planes.

 

Most of the work I do is furniture making (arts & crafts or original
designs) and cabinet construction.  Most of what I've done has been for
renovating our house.  I am looking at getting into doing more for sales
but enjoy the pace of work too much to get real excited about deadlines.
