Time to announce my presence in this list, I've been looking long enough.
My name is Fred Woodroffe and I live in the UK in South London.
Originally a hand Compositor in the printing trade, I then had a
brain-storm and trained as an internist. Now retired, I find life busier
than it ever was.
Being interested in tools in general and old tools in particular, I
joined the Tool and Trades History Society (TATHS). Being a slow sort of
chap, I now find myself editor of the Newsletter, and a Committee member.
TATHS is a very active Society and has many strings to its bow.
Since I've been looking at the "oldtools" list, I find that it is at
present an "oldwoodworkingtools" list. There are many other tools out
there, we ought to be looking at those too. Also I find that there is
still a big residue of rec.woodworking, many posts and questions relate
to woodworking techniques rather than the tools used.
I'll await the flame with my finger on the delete button!
Fred
