-79 kbrennan@o... (Kevin Brennan) 1970‑01‑01 howdy!

after four very interesting weeks (and already 700 messages- gads!) it is
time to say hello.

(nearly) 44 years old, married to a Hallmark photographer, no kids, two
border collies, 3rd generation Kansas Citian, managing a technical group at
a regional long distance co, living by the beautiful Country Club Plaza in
a three story (nearly) restored Dutch Colonial, a basement shop with a
left-handed work bench, many (but never, never enough) wonderful hand
powered tools and a rouhhter touched once in the last three years (damn
thing is noisy and jumps around in a scary fashion) and up to my ears in
projects!

my favorite lately acquired old tool is a Stanley #140 which works much
better than i expected (does anyone know where i can get a replacement
front knob for this?); my favorite lately acquired new tool is the new
bridge city panel gauge which is so pretty i'll put it back in the box
every time till i get around to building a good tool case sometime after
the year 2008.

the two best things about the internet, imho, are: 1) people are making a
new effort to communicate in a mostly civil manner, resisting the urge to
correct each other's spelling, and, 2) people all over the place are
connecting with each other based on the most wildly esoteric of interests
(like old hand woodworking tools). it is a great feeling to come across so
many others who are just as weird about these old pieces of iron as i am!

the only problem is trying to fit reading this listserv into an already
impossibly full day...

this completes the bio; i am ready for my castings!
